Big Walk Map & Locations Guide
The island is big, beautiful, and very easy to get lost in. Here is how to get the map, where every landmark lives, and why the pocket version never leaves your pack.
How to Get the Map
- Complete the red tower. Bring five of the red gourd-shaped collectibles you earn from clearing challenges and place them into the compartments at the top.
- Shape the key. At the base, work the key through five keyholes, following the arrow to each next carving point.
- Follow the route until you reach a large blue doorway with red stairs.
- Step inside. The giant island map covers the room, and the upper wall holds three laser pointers, a compass, and the handheld map — grab all four.
💡 Why bother carrying it
The small map slots into a backpack or side satchel, so whoever holds it becomes the group navigator. Pinpointing your position against nearby landmarks beats guessing at ridgelines every time.
The Two Maps Compared
| Version | Details |
|---|---|
| The giant wall map | Fills a whole room and shows every landmark and tower across the island. It carries a couple of extra features the pocket version lacks, making it the best planning tool in the game. |
| The handheld map | A normal-sized pamphlet hanging on the same upper wall. Shows all landmarks and towers while fitting in your pack or side satchel, so navigation travels with you. |
| What both maps hide | Neither version marks challenge locations or their completion state. When in doubt, head for anything colorful on the map — or anything visible in line of sight. |

Every Location Worth Knowing
| Location | What It Is / What Happens There |
|---|---|
| Starting area & tutorial field | Spawn point, tutorial room, and the drawbridge out. Anything held or worn when you take a break reappears here in a pile. |
| Paintbrush structure | Sits in the middle of the first big field past the tutorial: colored swatches on the walls, a mirror, and the brush a friend uses to repaint your three segments. |
| Map room | Behind the large blue doorway with red stairs, unlocked by finishing the red tower. Giant island map plus laser pointers, a compass, and the handheld map upstairs. |
| Four color towers | Red, blue, yellow, and green structures anchor the island. Red opens the map room, blue restarts the train; each hides on its own quarter of the map. |
| Train stations | Small stops dotting the clockwise rail loop, each with a schedule board showing how far the next train is and positions relative to towers you have unlocked. A matching map is printed on the back of the train itself. |
| Ten blue supply buildings | Blue spiral-style structures marked on the foldable map — do not confuse them with the blue tower. Each holds a waist bag or backpack; only one player from your group can claim any given building. |
| Chairlift station | Riding it earns Big Sit, and the ride doubles as the best sightseeing tour on the island. |
| Highest point, tunnel & wall | Three natural milestones: the summit view (Big Climb), the mountain passage (Big Tunnel), and whatever lies past the wall (Big Wall). |
All 10 Blue Supply Buildings
Open the foldable map and look for the small blue buildings scattered around — ten in total, none of them the blue tower. Each hides either a backpack or a waist bag, and only one player in your group can claim each one, so divide them up.
| # | Item Found | Note |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Orange waist bag | A standard supply stop on the open island. |
| 2 | Orange backpack | Same network of blue buildings — check the map markers. |
| 3 | Light blue backpack | One claim only at each building, so split up to gear everyone. |
| 4 | Green waist bag | Hip slot item for a third carried tool. |
| 5 | Purple waist bag | Take the tunnel that runs from the Yellow Tower toward the Blue Tower — the easiest route there. |
| 6 | Yellow backpack | Standard blue-building loot. |
| 7 | Teal backpack | Standard blue-building loot. |
| 8 | Yellow waist bag | Standard blue-building loot. |
| 9 | Pink backpack | Standard blue-building loot. |
| 10 | Red backpack + teal waist bag | The only spot offering two carry items at once — reached after solving the Green Tower, which leads you nearby. |
Getting Around Without Getting Lost
Read the schedules
Train station boards show incoming trains relative to the towers you have already unlocked — another reason the map room pays for itself early.
Light beacons as breadcrumbs
Flip every fruit-bulb pedestal and structure switch as you pass. From a tower top at dusk, the lit dots sketch exactly where you have been.
Signal across distances
Laser pointers reach the sky at night, radio music carries, flares mark positions — separated groups find each other faster with tools than with shouting.
Trust line of sight
With no challenge markers on the map, anything colorful or odd-shaped within view is usually worth the detour. Curiosity is the intended navigation system.
FAQ
How big is the Big Walk map?
Big Walk takes place on one large, contiguous open island rather than separate levels. There is no official area figure to quote — what matters practically is that crossing it on foot takes real time, which is exactly why the train loop, chairlift, and tunnels matter once unlocked.
Where is the map room?
Finish the red tower, carve the key, and follow its route until you reach a large blue doorway with red stairs. The room behind it holds the giant map, and the handheld copy hangs on the upper wall beside a compass and three laser pointers.
Does the map show puzzles or completed challenges?
No. Both maps mark landmarks and towers, but challenge locations and completion states stay hidden. Treat colorful areas and anything in line of sight as your prompts.
Is there fast travel?
Nothing instant. The closest thing is the clockwise train, which stops nowhere but lets you hop off anywhere along the rails — pair it with the tunnel shortcuts and the chairlift to cut long crossings down to size.
