What is Big Walk?
A cooperative online multiplayer adventure by House House and published by Panic. Two to twelve players explore a wide-open island together, solving puzzles built around teamwork and real communication: a walker-talker.

August 4, 2026, on Windows, macOS, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2 simultaneously.
What platforms is Big Walk on?
Windows and macOS on Steam, macOS also through the Mac App Store, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2. There is no Xbox version.
Is Big Walk on Game Pass or Xbox?
No. There is no Xbox version today and none has been announced.
Does Big Walk have crossplay?
Yes. Cross-platform multiplayer is a launch feature, so friends on PC, Mac, PS5, and Switch 2 share the same lobbies. The host carries the save data.
How much does Big Walk cost?
$19.99 USD on Steam, checked against the Steam storefront on September 3, 2026 with no discount active (US store region). It was also included in the PlayStation Plus Monthly Games lineup for August 2026.
Can you play Big Walk solo?
No. A lobby needs at least two players; twelve is the maximum. Puzzle content scales with group size.
How long does Big Walk take to finish?
There is no fixed length. Groups wander at their own pace across multiple sessions if they like, since the host keeps save data between treks.
Why can nobody hear me in Big Walk?
Proximity chat is deliberately realistic: voices fade over distance and barely carry toward someone facing away. Get closer, face your friends, use a megaphone or walkie-talkie. Early complaints about overly quiet voices were addressed in patches 1.4.8 and later.
Do I need a password to play now?
Yes. Since patch 1.4.9, starting a session requires setting a password. Share it with your crew before you begin.
How many achievements are there?

Is Big Walk family friendly?
The game carries no gore or combat; it is a gentle puzzle-hangout adventure. Voice chat with strangers is the main consideration, though session passwords keep lobbies private.
How does the backpack work in Big Walk?
A backpack adds one back slot and a waist bag adds one hip slot, on top of whatever is in your hands. Packs add carry slots instead of an inventory menu: there is no bag to open, you cannot stow something you are already holding, and you cannot take gear off another player. Both items are claimed from the ten blue spiral-shaped supply buildings, and anything worn stays secure when you tumble; only held items drop. Deeper detail is in our backpack & inventory guide.
How do you equip a backpack in Big Walk?
You do not craft or buy one. Claim it from one of the ten blue spiral-shaped supply buildings scattered around the island and it is worn from then on: a backpack takes your back slot, a waist bag takes your hip slot, and wearing each is what unlocks the Big Pack and Big Help achievements. Can you upgrade your backpack in Big Walk?
No upgrade system is documented anywhere this guide can stand behind. The packs handed out by the supply buildings come in different colors (orange, light blue, yellow, teal, pink, red), and nothing verified says one carries more than another. Plan around the three carry positions the game shows you (hands, back, hip) instead of hunting for a bigger bag. Deeper detail is in our backpack size & carry rules.
Where do you get the map in Big Walk?
Finish the red tower. Its reward opens the map room, which holds a giant chart of the whole island plus a handheld map, a compass, and spare laser pointers you can carry out. How do you get the train working in Big Walk?
The train is the blue tower reward. Complete the blue tower ritual (deliver its five gourd-shaped collectibles and carve the key through the five keyholes at the base), then place the finished key in the slot overlooking the tracks. A red train rolls up, ready to board for the clockwise loop (and the Big Ride achievement). Deeper detail is in our train how-to.
What is the highest point in Big Walk?
The island summit. Reaching it is the Big Climb achievement. It is easiest to find once you hold the handheld map from the red tower map room, which makes the high ground easy to spot from anywhere on the island. Deeper detail is in our landmarks on the map page.
Where is the tunnel in Big Walk?
The headline passage runs beneath the mountain (walking it earns the Big Tunnel achievement), and a second shortcut tunnel connects the area around the Yellow Tower toward the Blue Tower. One waist bag hides along that shortcut route, which makes the detour worth it for kitted-out trekkers. Deeper detail is in our tunnels & stations detail.
What engine does Big Walk run on?
Unity. Both the Windows and macOS builds ship from the same engine, and full controller support (including DualShock and DualSense) is listed alongside them. Deeper detail is in our the full fact sheet.
Does Big Walk save your progress?
Yes, automatically. The lobby host carries the save data, so a group can split one trek across as many sessions as it likes without losing ground. Patch 1.4.9 also added protection against save-data loss. Deeper detail is in our how sessions work.
Does everyone need to buy Big Walk?
